Los Gatos Cinema

History

The Los Gatos Theater first opened for business in 1915, at the dawn of the age of motion picture exhibition. It has been showing movies ever since.

The theater has undergone a number of incarnations and renovations in its day. Opening as the Strand Theater, it was remodeled after a 1929 fire. Given a new Art Deco look, complete with a marquee and murals, it was renamed the Premiere Theater. It became the Gatos Theater in the 1940s. In 1993, it was taken over by the Camera Cinemas and renamed Los Gatos Cinemas.
