2010 Golden Globe Awards

Avatar Claims Best Picture and Director Honors

James Cameron's groundbreaking 3-D epic AVATAR, still #1 at the box office since it opened a week before Christmas and threatening to topple Cameron's own TITANIC as the biggest movie of all time, captured two Golden Globes, including Best Motion Picture Drama, while Jeff Bridges (CRAZY HEART, opens Jan. 29th at Camera 7) and Sandra Bullock (THE BLIND SIDE, now playing at Camera 12) took home top honors for Best Actor and Actress in a Drama, respectively, as the 66th annual Golden Globe Awards were announced Jan. 17th in Hollywood . . . in all, seven films currently playing or coming soon to the Camera Cinemas earned 9 globes.

AVATAR, now playing at Camera 12 and Camera 7 Pruneyard, also won for Best Director, while CRAZY HEART won a second globe for Best Original Song. Pixar's UP claimed two globes, including Best Animated Film and Original Score.

Other winners included Robert Downey Jr. in SHERLOCK HOLMES (now at Camera 12Camera 7/Los Gatos) for Best Actor in a Musical/Comedy; UP IN THE AIR (now at Camera 12/Camera 7/Los Gatos) for Jason Reitmann's Original Screenplay; THE WHITE RIBBON (now at Camera 7) for Best Foreign Language Film; and Monique in PRECIOUS (now at Camera 12) for Best Supporting Actress.
