Synopsis: In this pumped-up, high tech surprise hit of 1988, a triumph of slick direction and lowbrow thrills, NYPD officer John McClane is in Los Angeles with his estranged wife and kids for the Christmas holidays, when she and her co-workers are taken hostage by a Hans Gruber and his group of well-armed thieves in an imposing state-of-the-art new office building in Century City.
